Sedimentological core analysis is a rock based interpretive and correlative tool that can be upscaled to provide predictive insight into local rock distributions. Core data can greatly improve our understanding of a depositional environment providing the foundation for more advanced facies interpretations. Sedimentological core logging provides a direct observation of vertical anisotropy at the cm-m scale that can relatively easily be upscaled and tied to petrophysical data. Qualiterra provides any type of core analysis service individually or as a package including carbonate or clastic core assessment, core interpretation, core photos, core logs, data tie ins and associated upscaling if requested. For projects within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, if a company does not have their own core, usually relevant core can be acquired from the AER core center’s vast archive in Calgary or the BCOGC core research facility in Fort Saint John.
